Promaxo, a medical imaging, robotics, and AI technology company based in Oakland, California, has established research partnerships with two prominent European institutions to advance MRI-guided prostate interventions.
Imperial College London Partnership
The company received a grant and entered a research agreement with Imperial College London for a clinical study. This study will compare Promaxo’s portable MRI system with TRUS-Fusion biopsy technology — software-assisted fusion that combines MRI images with live ultrasound — to evaluate accuracy in prostate cancer detection.
Dr. Taimur T. Shah, Clinical Senior Lecturer and Consultant Urologist at Imperial College London, stated: “The Promaxo Portable MRI has the potential to [be] a game changing innovation in the field of prostate cancer diagnostics.”
University Hospital Tuebingen Collaboration
The partnership with University Hospital Tuebingen will support clinical collaboration for MR-guided prostate interventions and assist with CE Marking approval in the European Economic Area.
Dr. Arnulf Stenzl, Professor and Chairman of the Department of Urology, commented: “MRI has become an integral part of early detection and local staging of prostate cancer in many guidelines around the world.”
Company Vision
Dr. Amit Vohra, Founder and CEO, emphasized the company’s commitment to expanding access to portable MRI technology across European healthcare systems.
