An Update on Promaxo Patient, Bill C.

Conventional wisdom says that our health isn’t really supposed to improve as we coast into our golden years.

But don’t bother telling that to 72-year-old Bill C. of Jackson, Mississippi, because he doesn’t believe it. In fact, he’s proof that rapidly advancing health care options are making a significant difference in patient outcomes and overall health.

Revisiting Bill’s experience with Promaxo

You might remember when we introduced Bill in July and recounted his experience as one of Promaxo’s first patients. We talked about what it was like for Bill to receive that prostate cancer diagnosis and how any bit of bad news seemed to pale in comparison to the quadruple bypass he had overcome in years past.

But what we didn’t tell you was that Bill’s experience with Promaxo wasn’t a doctor’s first attempt to confirm that he had prostate cancer. He experienced an increase in his prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels and had undergone other standard of care testing—all failing to find proof of the disease in his prostate.

Though he continued to have elevated PSA levels, Bill remained fearless, letting his resolve and positive attitude lead the way. He was fortunate enough to be one of Promaxo’s early patients when Dr. John D. Adams, Jr. of Mississippi Urology Clinic, asked if Bill would take part in a study involving Promaxo’s MRI technology.

“I felt very pleased that [Dr. Adams] offered me this special opportunity to have this procedure done,” Bill told us back in July. “I trusted his skill and knowledge in exploring this avenue.”

Dr. John Adams is one of Promaxo's early users who is pioneering the way to better patient care. In the time since John and his team harnessed the power of the Promaxo MRI system with Bill, there’s been growing demand across the country from other providers looking to bring the technology and the ability to target high-grade lesions by guiding biopsy needles to specific regions for sampling into their practices.

The latest on Bill’s health

When we last heard from Bill, he was raving about the Promaxo technology, its patient-first benefits and how honored he was to participate in a study that could someday be bigger than him.

We’re pleased to report that Bill has now completed a treatment plan that included non-invasive radiation treatment for his prostate cancer and is doing exceptionally well.

“I had a follow-up visit with Dr. Adams in December,” Bill says. “My PSA level was 1.2, down from the pre-treatment level of 12.5. I have had no issues, and all systems are back to normal.”

Bill has also spoken out to anyone who will listen about his experience with the Promaxo MRI System and the difference it made in his life.

What Bill went through prior to Promaxo was not unlike what many other men have endured for years, including having to navigate repeated painful procedures only to be told that the current standard of care simply couldn’t find any cancer. As uncomfortable as the physical pain is, there’s also the mental anguish of not knowing what the future might hold.

Bill gives thanks

Bill says he’s grateful for his care team, doctors, and Promaxo for everything that’s been done for him.

For Bill, the reassurance he received from his Promaxo experience was enough to free him from any potential psychological burden he may have endured. And what better way to celebrate than a leisurely vacation? With a clear head and worry-free outlook, Bill and his wife of 49 years took a trip to Disney World shortly after his encounter with Promaxo.

Bill turns 73 later this year—and while all birthdays are special, this one will be a little extra sweet. Without Promaxo, it’s possible that Bill’s cancer could have gone undetected until it was too late for treatment.

Like Bill told us when we first spoke with him in July, “The more you know about the area that needs to be treated, the better off you will be.”
